Family

We find it important to involve the family of our patients in their treatment as much as possible. Not only because they are an important factor in the patient's environment, but also because we want to address their questions and needs.

Our approach

'As much as possible' simply means we can only involve families while respecting the rights and interests of the patient. This implies the explicit permission of the patient and the constant consideration of the potentially negative impact on our relationship of trust with the patient.

'As much as possible' also means that we are well aware that the gap between the needs and expectations of loved ones and what we can fulfil may remain significant.

Our family support includes two components: conversations between families and the care team, and two family evenings held each year.
