Night hospital

The Night Hospital offers a supportive overnight setting combined with meaningful daytime activities, preferably outside the centre. Together, we focus on daily structure, autonomy and reconnecting with others.

The Night Hospital has 33 licensed beds and provides support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with at least two staff members present at all times. Continuity of care remains important after discharge, with ongoing support available through the Day Hospital, Supported Housing or the mobile team.

Admission

Admission begins with an application that includes a medical report from the treating psychiatrist. Afterwards, the person meets with members of our multidisciplinary team, including psychiatry, social work, psychology and nursing. During an interdisciplinary consultation, we explore whether the Night Hospital can offer the appropriate support for the next steps in recovery.

Residential groups

Patients live in two small residential groups, each with its own shared living space and dedicated nursing team. Together, we organise daily life — cooking, caring for the living environment, and making agreements about living together.

Participation and collaboration are central to daily life. Regular group meetings provide space to discuss practical matters and plan shared activities.

Every six weeks, patients meet with the ombudsman and the activities team in a forum. This creates an opportunity to share ideas and contribute to the daily operation and future development of the Night Hospital.

Working model

A mini-team is formed around each patient to ensure that support is closely tailored to individual needs and recovery goals. This team consists of the patient themselves, the group nurse, social worker, psychologist, ADL worker and a member of the Activities service.

Together, the mini-team defines goals related to autonomy, activation and social reintegration. The group nurse coordinates care and acts as case manager, while the psychiatrist supports the team in a consultative role.

The social service provides support with administrative matters and helps patients explore meaningful daytime activities such as work, volunteering, education or other forms of participation.

The Activities service organises creative and relaxing activities for patients who are not yet ready to engage in activities outside the centre. Evenings offer space for informal social contact, and larger shared activities are organised regularly, including barbecues, holiday celebrations and day trips.

The psychological service offers individual sessions and involves family members through introductory meetings, information evenings and, where appropriate, further support.

The Night Hospital also offers several welcoming spaces where patients can relax, meet others or express themselves creatively. The Livings, the Staminee, the Atelier and the garden each provide their own atmosphere and opportunities for rest, connection and meaningful activity.
